There are SO many fun things to do on a Halloween Disney cruise! Here are 8 activities and events that you don’t want to miss.
Are you obsessed with fall and Halloween?
If you are, a Halloween on the High Seas Disney Cruise Line vacation is definitely a vacation you need to go on! My husband and I took our first themed cruise with Disney on our first wedding anniversary, and man was it one we will remember forever. Halloween has always been a fun holiday for us, even before we had a baby! We love to dress up and binge eat ALL the candy – we are basically just big kids at heart!
In addition to all of the amazingly fun things that are included in your cruise fare, when you go on a Halloween Disney cruise, you get even more activities for the entire family to enjoy. DCL has something for everyone, from itty bitty babies to those in their golden years.

1. The Pumpkin Tree
A tree on a ship? Yep, it’s true! But it’s not quite what you think.
There’s a beautiful enchanted tree in the lobby atrium (the main area where you enter the ship) where kids and adults alike will gather around to hear stories about the history of Halloween. The tree lights up as it starts to speak and tells about a surprise for the next day. Let me give you a hint – there will be lots of floating Jack-O-Lanterns!
This was one of the best parts of the cruise. It was one of the things that really gave off that fall/Halloween vibe that we loved so much!
2. The Decorations
You just can’t have a good fall/Halloween themed cruise without decorations. And let me tell you, no one does decor better than Disney! The entire ship is decorated to a T, and as always, Disney puts thought into even the smallest things. No detail goes unnoticed. Even the portholes are made to look like Jack-O-Lanterns! And check out this awesome/creepy pumpkin display in Cabanas, the main buffet. How cool is that?
The beauty of the ship and the decor that Disney uses is just stunning. It’s something you have to experience!
3. The Halloween-Themed Food and Merchandise
There are an abundance of food and drink options to choose from on a Disney cruise. During the themed cruises, there are even more to choose from and the best part is, some of them are Halloween/fall themed!
As for merchandise, you can get just about any kind of Mickey-eared gear to help you celebrate the season. Trick-or-treat baskets, costumes for the whole family, Halloween kitchen decor, and much more are available in the onboard shops. We got this cute little vampire Mickey popcorn bucket on our trip!

4. Trick-or-Treating and Pumpkin Carving
These classic fall activities are even more fun when you’re on a Disney cruise! Each day, be sure to check your Daily Navigator (it’s now on the DCL app, but you can request physical copies to be sent to your stateroom) to see the activities and times guide. It will outline all of the fun things going on that day. As always, those with peanut or other food allergies will also get to participate in the fun without fear of an allergic reaction. Disney takes this seriously and will do everything they can to accommodate you! If you are concerned about allergies, visit guest services and a crew member will discuss options with you.
5. Adult-Only Fun
It’s not just the kids that get to have all the fun! You can find Halloween themed activities for adults in the adult-only areas onboard. Send the kids to their clubs while you relax and have some fun. There are dance parties, costume parties, bingo (with cash prizes!), cooking classes, wine tastings, and so much more.
When my husband and I took our cruise, we planned to enter the adult costume contest dressed as Mickey and Minnie. We ended up chickening out and not doing it, but we still had a lot of fun dressing up in our homemade costumes!

6. Character Meet and Greets
One of the best things about cruising with Disney is that characters – especially Mickey and Pals – are way more accessible on board than in the parks! A cool thing about the Halloween cruise? They are all dressed up in their Halloween costumes during the big Halloween party!

7. Pirate Night
Pirate Night is on all of the Bahamian and Caribbean cruises, but it’s even better on a Halloween cruise in my opinion. This is a night where you dress up in your favorite pirate gear and have pirate/Caribbean themed food, games, and activities. There’s also a fireworks show and all-you-can-eat buffet at the end of the night! It’s a night you really don’t want to miss out on.
8. Spooky Stories on the Deck
Gather around on deck 11 with an ice cream cone to hear an old sea captain tell his stories of the haunted waters that surround you! These stories could be a little scary for easily frightened children, but it’s a fun Halloween activity that will definitely get you in the spirit!
